It is being seen more and more that certain toxins are a disruption of key mechanisms in weight management.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The key biological systems involved are neuro-endocrine-immune systems the mitochondrial energetics and redox status.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Foreign molecules are causing obesity, this includes medications like:&lt;br /&gt;psychotropics in particular, monoamine oxidase[MAO} inhibitors, Lithium, valprate,&lt;br /&gt;Mirtazapine,clozapine,olanzapine, some selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors [SSRIs] such as Fluoxetine, seraline, and paroxetine actually promote weight gain through various mechanisms.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We spend so much money to develop the magic pill to cause weight gain, but are defeating the purpose, because if medications cause weight gain then most certainly envirnmental toxins will do the same.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why? Because they interfer with metabolism, overload hepatic function [detoxification is made more difficult], and disrupt central weight-control systems [already in the body are certain triggers to keep our weight balanced], they promote insulin resistance, alter circadian-rhythms, increase inflamation, interfere with thyrid function, damage the mitochndria; All of which &lt;strong&gt;causes&lt;/strong&gt; weight gain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We live in a virtual chemical soup of toxins, our exposure comes through our food supply, our air, the VOC gasses in the homes and offices that surround our bodies every day. In fact Eighty thousand new chemicals have been introduced since the year 1900. Most of these have never been tested for their cumulative effects on living tissue.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We can test for these various toxins but unfortunately they are quickly moved by the body to storage sites like inside of fat cells or in our muscles and bones, or organs; so any test we do on the blood and urine will &lt;strong&gt;underestimate&lt;/strong&gt; the amount of toxins we have circulating and purcolating in our bodies at any given time. The body does this storing to preserve itself. If all those poisons were running around loose in our bodies it would kill us. Now you see why our bodies hang onto the fat it has accumulated, because releasing the fats releases the poisons. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The body is also stressed by Internal toxins, those that arise from bacteria and yeasts in the gut: and leading to increased inflamation and oxidation; including endotoxins, toxic amines, toxic bile, various carcinogenic [it means it produces the atmosphere needed for cancer to begin] substances like putrescine and cadaverine. &lt;br /&gt;***&lt;br /&gt;EWE! What are they?&lt;br /&gt;putrescine-[from Wikpedia]related to cadaverine; both are produced by the breakdown of amino acids in living and dead organisms. The two compounds are largely responsible for the foul odor of putrefying flesh, but also contribute to the odor of such processes as bad breath and bacterial vaginosis.&lt;br /&gt;All of this is what your body manufacturers in response to things like Candidiasis.&lt;br /&gt;cadaverine-[also from Wikipedia] is a foul-smelling molecule produced by protein hydrolysis during putrefaction of animal tissue. It is responsible for the smell of urine and semin.&lt;br /&gt;***&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;WHAT CAN WE DO TO DETOX?&lt;br /&gt;&gt;Drink lots of pure water, eat more fiber. This floods and pushes out the toxic stuff and we get rid of it.&lt;br /&gt;&gt;eat garlic every day. It purifies.&lt;br /&gt;&gt;eat more beans, fruits and nuts, the same effect as the first two.&lt;br /&gt;&gt;probiotics can help, even fermented foods, sauerkraut, kefir, Kombucho tea. Make our bowels more healty to get rid of toxins from Candidiasis etc.&lt;br /&gt;&gt;citrus peel, caraway and dill oil contain limonene a toxin-fighter&lt;br /&gt;&gt;eat lots of fresh whole vegetables, preferably locally grown and non-GM.&lt;br /&gt;&gt;Sweat a lot, it rids the body of toxins. Eighteen years ago he was diagnosed with an incurable disease and given less than two years to live. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The point is, if you don't want to accept a Death sentence from your doctor, find out how to heal yourself. Find out first why you have whatever disease they say you have, Then find out how to get healthy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is what I've been doing while I'm working to reverse Diabetes. I can't say I've actually found the exact cause but while I look I'm using a shotgun approach to be as healthy as I can get.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am eating a healthy diet, in which I've kept out as many pollutants, preservatives, additives, pesticides, and herbicides as I can. I do everything I can to avoid genetically modified, processed or transported foods as possible. I believe if I eat locally grown, whole fresh foods cooked as little as possible I'm way ahead of the game.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since our soils are depleted I also take certain supplements like minerals and enzymes to augment my food nutritionally, this way I can get all the building blocks of good health from what I ingest.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Still I'm on the prowl for the exact cause of Diabetes so I can just say good by to it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My quest is taking me to what seems far afield areas of research, but who knows when I'll find the key? I found once that Diabetics tend to have highly acidic bodies so I de-acidified mine with Alkalizing foods and &lt;a href='http://productshealth.net/index.html' target="new"&gt;CellPower™&lt;/a&gt;, which I still take for it's many healthy benefits, in addition o it keeping me in a alkaline condition.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I found that many Diabetics have springboarded from a diet high in High Fructose Corn Syrup to Diabetes so I have eliminated that from my life. I read that MSG caused people to gain weight, so I dropped that. I also discovered that the bleaching agent[Alloxan] in White flour is another cause of Diabetes, so I never eat any white flour. Gluten [see any grain] has been implicated in allergies and other problems, so I avoid all breads and flour products.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I get a multitude of newsletters so I can keep abreast of all news of research breakthroughs. Scientists have found a poison that is prevalent in the American diet. Did the purveyors of Aspartame, those life-span-regulators, come up with a new way to kill us? Did we always have this poison, and are just now discovering how dangerous it is? Swedish scientists have discovered that acrylamide  a cancer-causing chemical found in many American products, and nobody knows how it gets there."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At any rate researchers have found the highest concentrations of the cancer-causing Acrylamides in; well, you probably already know the answer here, Fast-food French Fries [there are 39 to 72 of acrylamides per serving micrograms]. Is it the trans fats again? Is it whatever chemical they are now using to bind the faked potato bits to each other when they mold the fries to uniform size and shape? No, It's from Heating &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Especially&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt; the excessively high heats involved in frying/roasting our foods. Our benevolent governmental EPA says that the acrylamides, which are sometimes used in water purification [now isn't THAT a funny joke?] are: in 8oz. of Water, approximately a 'safe' 0.12. (est.) 52 *Burger King French Fries, large, 5.5 oz. 57 *McDonald's French Fries, large, 6 oz. 72......&lt;br /&gt;So, how did this happen? how are these poisons getting into our food supply?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Apparently it is caused by cooking one's foods with high heats. So, first in manufacturing our lovely processed foods large quantities of foods are superheated in huge vats, combined with other ingredients and then spit out in small packages, carted to our kitchens or to fast food restaurants to be then re-cooked for our tables. Now they are laden with all the additives and fake colorings and fake flavors AND Acrylamides. We won't even go into whatever pesticides, herbacides and other -cides are remnanted in our foods in addition. We eat a conglomeration of genetically modified foods*, overly-cooked foods [either at home or a restaurant], processed foods, fast foods and chemically 'enhanced' foods. Is it any wonder we are sick?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*********************explanation*********************&lt;br /&gt;Genetically modified--plants that are 'made' in a laboratory to accommodate some need a scientist might decide we have, rendering it no longer a food that our body recognizes as something it can digest and use, and is probably considered as a pollutant to fight against instead [this fighting is also called an allergy] instead.&lt;br /&gt;*********************end explanation******************&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What is the answer to this? First I want to talk about one solution and why it is a good idea: raw foods. First: if a food is cooked the enzymes essential to health are killed.&lt;br /&gt;Why do we need enzymes?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1)&lt;blockquote&gt;Enzymes are the spark of life -- they run your entire body. You couldn't digest or absorb food, walk, talk, or even breathe without them. An "enzyme" acts in certain ways in the body to do specific jobs such as &lt;br /&gt;1. Digest food &lt;br /&gt;2. Break down toxins &lt;br /&gt;3. Cleanse the blood &lt;br /&gt;4. Strengthen the immune system &lt;br /&gt;5. Build protein into muscle &lt;br /&gt;6. Eliminate carbon dioxide from the lungs, and &lt;br /&gt;7. Reduce stress on the pancreas and other vital organs. &lt;br /&gt;Enzymes are the workers in your body -- they carry out every chemical reaction. To have a healthy body you need both workers (enzymes) and building materials. The building materials are proteins (amino acids), minerals, and vitamins. All of these are necessary to build a healthy body. One of the most common ideas in raw-food circles is that most diseases are due to toxemia, and that one cannot be truly healthy without discontinuing what is believed to be one of the major sources of such internal toxemia: cooked food, even if such food is unprocessed in any other respect except by heat.&lt;br /&gt;While it certainly appears true that many people experience (sometimes impressive) improvements when first coming to raw food, it also appears that long-time pure raw-foodists who have maintained the diet for many years are rare. I have to agree that fast foods are not healthy, they are full of High Fructose Corn Syrup, MSG, White flour and trans fats...  It wasn't those things the woman was railing at.  It was the saturated fats.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First, I'm against backing people into a corner and trying to humiliating them into making changes.  Then there is the wealth of misinformation broadcasted.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fat is bad: BAD, BAD,BAD right?  And it fills your arteries with that same white badity badness that you see in a frying pan after it cools off, Right?  Whoa there pardner, that may not be the whole story.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1)&lt;blockquote&gt;Saturated fats from animal and vegetable sources provide a concentrated source of energy in the diet; they also provide the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of hormones and hormonelike substances. Fats as part of a meal slow down absorption so that we can go longer without feeling hungry. In addition, they act as carriers for important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Dietary fats are needed for the conversion of carotene to vitamin A, for mineral absorption and for a host of other processes. &lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(2)&lt;blockquote&gt;No offense, but you have a fat head! About two-thirds of your brain is composed of fats. But not just any kind. &lt;br /&gt;Your brain cells require very specialized fats – the same ones that built the brains of your prehistoric ancestors and enabled them to learn and evolve at such a fast rate. These same fats are even now being incorporated into the very structure of your brain. &lt;br /&gt;Membranes – the Working Surface of Your Brain is Made from Fatty Acids    &lt;br /&gt;The membranes of neurons – the specialized brain cells that communicate with each other – are composed of a thin double-layer of fatty acid molecules. Fatty acids are what dietary fats are composed of. When you digest the fat in your food, it is broken down into fatty acid molecules of various lengths. Your brain then uses these for raw materials to assemble the special types of fat it incorporates into its cell membranes.&lt;br /&gt;   Passing through a cell's membrane into its cell's interior are oxygen, glucose (blood sugar), and the micronutrients the cell needs to function. Metabolic waste products must exit, so the cell won't be impaired by its own pollution. &lt;br /&gt;Myelin, the protective sheath that covers communicating neurons, is composed of 30% protein and 70% fat. One of the most common fatty acids in myelin is oleic acid, which is also the most abundant fatty acid in human milk and in our diet.&lt;br /&gt;Monosaturated oleic acid is the main component of olive oil as well as the oils from almonds, pecans, macadamias, peanuts, and avocados. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1)&lt;BLOCKQUOTE&gt;Politically Correct Nutrition is based on the assumption that we should reduce our intake of fats, particularly saturated fats from animal sources. Fats from animal sources also contain cholesterol, presented as the twin villain of the civilized diet. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Lipid Hypothesis&lt;br /&gt;The theory—called the lipid hypothesis—that there is a direct relationship between the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol in the diet and the incidence of coronary heart disease was proposed by a researcher named Ancel Keys in the late 1950’s. Numerous subsequent studies have questioned his data and conclusions. Nevertheless, Keys’ articles received far more publicity than those presenting alternate views. The vegetable oil and food processing industries, the main beneficiaries of any research that found fault with competing traditional foods, began promoting and funding further research designed to support the lipid hypothesis. &lt;br /&gt;The most well-known advocate of the lowfat diet was Nathan Pritikin. Actually, Pritikin advocated elimination of sugar, white flour and all processed foods from the diet and recommended the use of fresh raw foods, whole grains and a strenuous exercise program; but it was the lowfat aspects of his regime that received the most attention in the media. Adherents found that they lost weight and that their blood cholesterol levels and blood pressure declined. The success of the Pritikin diet was probably due to a number of factors having nothing to do with reduction in dietary fat—weight loss alone, for example, will precipitate a reduction in blood cholesterol levels—but Pritikin soon found that the fat-free diet presented many problems, not the least of which was the fact that people just could not stay on it. Those who possessed enough will power to remain fat-free for any length of time developed a variety of health problems including low energy, difficulty in concentration, depression, weight gain and mineral deficiencies. Pritikin may have saved himself from heart disease but his lowfat diet did not spare him from cancer. He died, in the prime of life, of suicide when he realized that his Spartan regime was not curing his leukemia. We shouldn’t have to die of either heart disease or cancer—or consume a diet that makes us depressed. &lt;/BLOCKQUOTE&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;WELL SO MUCH FOR THAT.  Let's see; eating a healthy balanced diet of fresh whole foods helps us to lose weight and feel great, Where's the downside? Once again, I have searched the web to find yet anither boon for those who want to improve their health even thought they have Diabetes.  I hope this will help you all out there in cyberland.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1)&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Winter Workouts at Home&lt;br /&gt;Six Indoor Exercises to Strengthen Your Core&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When chilly winter weather keeps you inside, you still have plenty of options for exercise. Take advantage of this season to strengthen your core muscles. You won’t need a lot of fancy (or expensive) gear or equipment. There are many types of exercises you can do that work out your muscles by working against gravity. For instance, Pilates-based exercises use your own weight for resistance and can easily be done at home or wherever you travel. Plus, working out your core throughout the winter will help you maintain your strength and flexibility, so when you return to outdoor activities in the spring, you'll avoid injury. Be sure to check with a health care professional before beginning, or making significant changes to, an exercise program.&lt;br /&gt;Try the six exercises below as a daily workout. Repeat this routine a couple of times each week. You can mix in cardiovascular workouts (walking on a treadmill or inside at the mall) on alternate days.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Strengthen Your Core&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;~Abdominals&lt;br /&gt;I. Leg Raises&lt;br /&gt;Lie on your back with your legs extended straight up.&lt;br /&gt;Rest your arms by your sides or underneath your buttocks.&lt;br /&gt;Keeping your lower back on the floor, lower your legs slowly to a 45-degree angle, then return your legs to the starting position for a count of five seconds.&lt;br /&gt;If you’re a beginner, do one set of eight to 10 repetitions.&lt;br /&gt;If you're more experienced, do two to three sets of eight to 10 repetitions each.&lt;br /&gt;~II. Torso Twist&lt;br /&gt;Lie on your back with your hips and knees bent at a 90-degree angle.&lt;br /&gt;Place your hands behind your head, with your elbows on the floor.&lt;br /&gt;Bring your right elbow toward your left knee, and extend your right leg at the same time. You should be bending from the waist with your left elbow on the ground.&lt;br /&gt;Hold for one second, and then return to the starting position. Complete the set on one side before you go to the other side.&lt;br /&gt;If you’re a beginner, do one set of eight to 10 repetitions.&lt;br /&gt;If you're more experienced, do two to three sets of eight to 10 repetitions each.&lt;br /&gt;Back Muscles&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;~III. Flat Back Extension&lt;br /&gt;Lie facedown on the floor with your hands at your sides, next to your hips.&lt;br /&gt;Not using your arms, slowly raise your shoulders and chest off the floor about four to six inches.&lt;br /&gt;Hold for one second, keeping your lower body relaxed and your head in line with your upper body.&lt;br /&gt;If you’re a beginner, do one set of eight to 10 repetitions.&lt;br /&gt;If you're more experienced, do two to three sets of eight to 10 repetitions.&lt;br /&gt;~IV. Kneeling Back Extensions (Cat-Camel)&lt;br /&gt;Start on your hands and knees with your weight squarely over your wrists and knees.&lt;br /&gt;Round your back, tucking your chin to your chest and your hips under.&lt;br /&gt;Scoop your belly and press up like a camel. Hold for five seconds.&lt;br /&gt;Exhale and reverse, arching your back and sinking into your shoulders like a cat. Hold for five seconds. Do 10 times.&lt;br /&gt;Waist/Love Handles&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;~V. Side Bend Without Weights&lt;br /&gt;Stand straight, with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding your chin parallel to the floor. Interlock your fingers behind your head, with your elbows pointing out.&lt;br /&gt;Turn your head to the right, looking over your right shoulder. Slowly bend to the right, keeping the arms in place.&lt;br /&gt;Repeat, turning to the left side.&lt;br /&gt;If you’re a beginner, do one set of eight to 10 repetitions per side.&lt;br /&gt;If you're more experienced, do two to three sets of eight to 10 repetitions per side.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;~VI. That figure tops the expenditures of Pepsi and Budweiser each that year to promote their top products (National Institute for Healthcare Management 5). This advertising blitz started just months after the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) had approved Vioxx (Abramson 23). Advertising works. By the end of 2000, Vioxx sales reached $1.5 billion (National Institute for Healthcare Management 2). In the ensuing few years, troubling evidence regarding the severe and potentially fatal side-effects of Vioxx began to emerge, including studies showing that Vioxx might double the chances of heart attacks and or strokes (Abramson 35). Merck continued to advertise Vioxx to everyone, even after being reprimanded more than once by the FDA for not including a fair representation of this important information in their ads (Abramson 32). Merck eventually discontinued sales of Vioxx voluntarily in 2004(Burke 1753). This action came too late for many consumers. As noted by healthcare ethicist Leonard J. Weber, by the time that Vioxx was pulled, there were already millions of people taking it at serious risk to their health (2). While the exact number of patients adversely affected by Vioxx is still unknown, in a study of drugs belonging to the same family as Vioxx (known as COX-2 inhibitors) it was concluded by Dr. Campen, et al. that the drug Vioxx alone could have been responsible for over 100,000 serious heart attacks and strokes in the few years it was on the market (479). If the FDA continues to allow drug companies to advertise their prescription products to consumers, it is obvious that changes in policy are necessary in order to protect the public. The Vioxx debacle clearly shows the glaring inadequacies in the current FDA regulations of DTC prescription drug advertising. &lt;br /&gt;Once a drug has been approved by the FDA, no waiting period currently exists to prevent that drug from being marketed to consumers immediately. This proved to be especially problematic in the case of Vioxx. In an article this year for Clinical Pharmacology &amp; Therapeutics, authors Bell and Kravitz conclude that DTC advertising can be most dangerous when it involves newly approved drugs that have not had time enough on the market to prove themselves. Often, the risks of a new drug aren’t apparent until it has been given to enough people to evaluate its dangers (361). They go on to propose that a newly approved prescription drug should be given 2 years to prove itself as both effective and safe before it is marketed to consumers. This waiting period would allow physicians some time to become more familiar with the drug and its limitations when compared to other therapies that are already available (361). Mass marketing of Vioxx before its risks and limitations could be assessed, caused unnecessary injury and death. As Dr. John Abramson points out, Vioxx was prescribed to far too many people. The drug should have been limited to arthritic patients on steroids, who had no history of cardiovascular disease, and who had exhibited adverse stomach problems while taking NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as Naproxen (36). This is a far cry from what actually happened in the Vioxx case. Patients were asking for Vioxx, and being prescribed it, for any type of ache and pain imaginable. The pharmaceutical industry may complain that a two year moratorium on DTC after the drug is approved is an unfair burden, but as Drs. Bell and Kravitz point out, a waiting period may be advantageous for the drug industry as well. “A [2 year] moratorium reduces the inherent financial liabilities that accompany the mass adoption of understudied new drugs“(361). Merck may just agree in light of the ongoing court battles it faces because of Vioxx. As Todd Zwillich reports in an article for The Lancet, Merck has reserved $675 million to fight lawsuits resulting from Vioxx that could lead eventually to losses in the billions of dollars (1673). &lt;br /&gt;DTC marketing of prescription drugs began a decade ago, when the FDA relaxed its restrictions (Nelson 25). At that time, the FDA thought that the restrictions in place would be sufficient to protect the public. The FDA would have the power of regulatory letters to admonish companies running misleading ads, and force them to pull such ads from the airwaves. However, in a report by the GAO (U.S. Government Accountability Office), it was noted that the FDA’s method of admonishing drug companies for false or misleading advertising fell far short of what was necessary to protect the public (2). The letters, which are meant to force companies to comply with regulations, can do nothing more than force the company to pull the ad that violates FDA regulations. The GAO found that it took the FDA an average of 8 months to issue such a letter. This was too late in most cases to stop the ad in question. The letters also couldn’t prevent the same company from running similar and just as misleading ads in the future (7). Vioxx is a good example of how little power the FDA‘s regulatory letters have. According to Dr. John Abramson, the FDA sent two regulatory letters to Merck regarding their Vioxx ads. The first letter was issued in 2000 and accused Merck of putting out ads that misrepresented Vioxx, namely that Merck’s ads didn’t give sufficient weight to evidence that the drug could have potentially dangerous cardiovascular side effects. The second, in 2001, came after a press release entitled “Merck Confirms Cardiovascular Safety Profile of Vioxx”. The FDA was particularly upset with Merck for putting out this press release considering that they had already warned the company the previous year about their misleading ads (36). Merck‘s response was to continue to aggressively push Vioxx on unsuspecting consumers even in the face of repeated admonishments by the FDA, and with the knowledge that their product could possibly cause undue harm. The FDA needs better tools at its disposal to deal with DTC ads that mislead consumers. The FDA should have the ability adequately deal with drug companies that refuse to follow the law. Instead of issuing hollow warnings, a drug company in violation of FDA rules could be warned once, then be imposed monetary fines if they continued to run false or misleading advertisements for their products.&lt;br /&gt;Since the FDA changed its guidelines in 1997, DTC advertising has exploded. According to the GAO, over $4 billion was spent in 2005 by drug companies in DTC advertising alone (5). Consumers are being bombarded daily by radio and television ads that encourage them to “ask their Doctor” if a particular drug is “right for them”. There is no question that these ads work. What can be questioned, however, is whether there are sufficient safeguards in place to protect the public from undue harm resulting from the drugs that these ads are touting. The drug companies may cry foul if told that they cannot advertise their newly approved drugs to everyone with a television or radio, but the lessons of Vioxx should not be ignored. No drug should be considered safe enough to be advertised to the masses until it has been on the market long enough to assess its true risks. Being healthy, alive, and burning food for energy includes the constant process of billions of tiny cells making chemical reactions that generate waste acids in our bodies. The constant process of cleaning the waste acids out as fast as we make them is paramount to good health. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our bodies must maintain the proper balance between being alkaline or acid for us to be alive. This balance is measured on a scale called pH. This scale and measurement spans from a low of 1 - being very acid – through neutral at 7, to a high of 14 which is extremely alkaline. A pH value below 7 is considered acid and above 7 alkaline. Maintaining a slightly alkaline pH condition overall is crucial for having good health. If your body's pH is not balanced, you cannot effectively assimilate vitamins, minerals, supplements, and food. Your body pH affects everything. I have been teaching worldwide about this importance of bodily pH being a major factor and measurable reflection of our health for 17 years.&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;The Current Focus On pH Overlooks the Real Cause&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Currently, the modern awareness of the importance of pH is reflected in the existence of many ads talking about it. Machines and supplements are being touted that all claim to alkalinize the body. This awareness and importance of proper pH, and therefore most writings and discussions, focus solely on regulating various types of food or water intake as the way to adjust the overall body pH. They simply ignore the most vital nutrient that the body is constantly using to adjust its own pH, as needed in each vital area. The writers do not make the proper connections in their minds, so they miss the most important factor in creating proper pH. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Body Acidity Breeds Disease&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is widely accepted scientifically that a body with too many accumulated waste toxins and acids inside it is unhealthy. A readily seen - and felt - example of this fact is when we become sore after exercise. This soreness is entirely due to the over-accumulation of lactic acid in our muscles. It’s just waiting to be removed. In a few days, the body marshals its resources and buffers the lactic acid - and the soreness goes away. Cancer also causes an over-accumulation of lactic acid around the cancer site that causes other nearby cells to become aberrated. Many people have removed this cascade of advancing acid-fueled cancers by restoring the normal acid/alkalizing balance.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At the cellular level, a continuous buildup of various waste acids throughout the body creates what is referred to as a chronically acidic body pH. This system-wide, low pH, over-acidic condition allows the proliferation of harmful microbes and aberrant cells that begin to grow uncontrollably. Microbes and cancer flourish in acidic conditions. Maintaining a healthy, slightly alkaline, body condition creates an environment wherein harmful microbes and acid-caused aberrant cells simply can’t exist. Extrapolating the data, researchers estimated that more than 94,000 patients were infected with invasive MRSA during the study period, and 85 percent of the infections were associated with health care treatment. &lt;br /&gt;Well over 18,500 of the infected patients died. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some hospitals test incoming patients for MSRA and then isolate infected patients. This is somewhat controversial because sequestered patients may not receive the same level of care as uninfected patients. While that issue is open to debate, the New York Times reports that a hospital system in Chicago has cut the rate of MSRA infections by 60 percent since screening began in 2005. &lt;br /&gt;Which brings us to the question: What can you do to reduce your risk of infection during a planned hospital stay? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You can begin by choosing a hospital with a high safety rating.  The Department of Health and Human Services web site (hospitalcompare.hhs.gov)  provides an assessment of the level of care at participating hospitals. You can easily search the database by entering a hospital name, zip code, city, county, or state. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another similar web site (healthgrades.com) collects mortality data on more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals. You can also search for information about individual physicians and nursing homes on this site. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Once you've chosen a top rated hospital, what steps can you take to personally prepare yourself for a hospital stay? When I put this question to HSI Panelist Allan Spreen, M.D., he began and ended his comments with vitamin C. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dr. Spreen: "I'd be taking vitamin C by the grams (to bowel tolerance then just below), but right before surgery you'd have to cut back to keep from hindering the anesthesia (which is another toxin, remember). In an attempt to control such a situation, governments in many countries are stockpiling flu vaccines and antiviral drugs. The problem is, they don't work as well as researchers originally thought. Are you eating your fruits?  Are you getting enough potassium?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1)electrolytes are salts that conduct electricity and are found in the body fluid, tissue, and blood. Examples are chloride, calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium. Sodium (Na+) is concentrated in the extracellular fluid (ECF) and potassium (K+) is concentrated in the intracellular fluid (ICF). Proper balance is essential for muscle coordination, heart function, fluid absorption and excretion, nerve function, and concentration. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(2)Electrolytes are minerals in your blood and other body fluids that carry an electric charge. It is important for the balance of electrolytes in your body to be maintained, because they affect the amount of water in your body, blood pH, muscle action, and other important processes. You lose electrolytes when you sweat, and these must be replenished by drinking lots of fluids.&lt;br /&gt;Electrolytes exist in the blood as acids, bases, and salts (such as sodium, calcium, potassium, chlorine, magnesium, and bicarbonate) and can be measured by laboratory studies of the blood serum.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(3)*Sodium plays a major role in regulating the amount of water in the body. Also, the passage of sodium in and out of cells is necessary for many body functions, like transmitting electrical signals in the brain and in the muscles. The sodium levels are measured to detect whether there's the right balance of sodium and liquid in the blood to carry out those functions.&lt;br /&gt;If a child becomes dehydrated because of vomiting, diarrhea, or inadequate fluid intake, the sodium levels can be abnormally high or low, which can cause a child to feel confused, weak, and lethargic, and even to have seizures.&lt;br /&gt;*Potassium is essential to regulate how the heart beats. When potassium levels are too high or too low, it can increase the risk of an abnormal heartbeat. Low potassium levels are also associated with muscle weakness.&lt;br /&gt;*Chloride, like sodium, helps maintain a balance of fluids in the body. If there's a large loss of chloride, the blood may become more acidic and prevent certain chemical reactions from occurring in the body that are necessary it to keep working properly.&lt;br /&gt;*Bicarbonate prevents the body's tissues from getting too much or too little acid. The kidney and lungs balance the levels of bicarbonate in the body. So if bicarbonate levels are too high or low, it might indicate that there's a problem with those organs&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(4)What can high-potassium foods do for you?&lt;br /&gt;*Help your muscles and nerves function properly &lt;br /&gt;*Maintain the proper electrolyte and acid-base balance in your body &lt;br /&gt;**Help lower your risk of high blood pressure &lt;br /&gt;What events can indicate a need for more high-potassium foods?&lt;br /&gt;*Muscle weakness,*Confusion,*Irritability, *Fatigue, *Heart problems,*Chronic diarrhea, *Regular, intense exercise, *Use of certain diuretics &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Food sources of potassium:Swiss chard,boiled lima beans, button mushrooms, cooked yam, winter squash, baked soybeans, cooked avacado, spinach, boiled pinto beans, cooked papaya, cooked lentils.  I can't imagine cooked avacadoes or papaya... but I know bananas have a lot of it too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(5) ANOTHER SOURCE SAYS THIS:&lt;br /&gt;Several major food groups are high in potassium including white meats, root vegetables, and fresh fruit, along with dairy. If prepared in a healthy way, they will also contribute to a healthy and balanced diet. If you are consuming a food for its potassium, try to eat it raw, if possible. Another 'food group' to ignore. The only was you could make it worse is by adding MSG [actually it contains a free glumatic acid similar to MSG in it-a neurotoxin and frequently more is added to soy to make it more palatable] and frying it in trans fats.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3-Soy has high levels of phytoestrogens. You can imagine how those estrogens [the female hormone affects males eating it, and how it wars with their own testosterone].&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4-It also is loaded with phytic acid-which reduces assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc causing major growth development problems in children. Early puberty [under age 8 for many] for girls and late or no development of male puberty attributes].&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5-Soy formula given to many infants~ under the banner of it being so healthy~ actually causes a myriad of troubles in them, including reduced vitamin D absorption [the cancer preventative vitamin] and lowered resistance due to environmental hazards and makes for sickly children.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6-The processing of Soy also causes formation of&lt;em&gt; toxic lysinoalanine&lt;/em&gt; and &lt;em&gt;highly carcinogenic nitrosamines&lt;/em&gt; and kills off any fragile proteins and enzymes it might have had to make it healthy, but now it's a dead substance at best.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7-Soy also contains high levels of aluminum a definite kidney and nervous system toxin. Aluminum also found in Pickles, table salt, and anti-perspirants has been implicated in Alzheimer's, yes, they say it isn't the cause, but the myelin surrounding the nerves and brain cells are loaded with aluminum in Alzheimer's patients. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;** You be the judge, if it's worth it to you to load up on aluminum, eating it and cooking with it and smearing it under your arms every day, it's your funeral.**&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Back to soy~&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1)&lt;blockquote&gt;Phytoestrogens &lt;br /&gt;The endocrine disruptors in soy.&lt;br /&gt;You've probably heard quite a bit about phytoestrogens. The plant compounds that &lt;em&gt;mimic estrogen&lt;/em&gt; are touted by some as miracle agents that will prevent cancer, coronary heart disease and osteoporosis (just to name a few).&lt;br /&gt;But there is a much darker side to these compounds which are phyto-endocrine disruptors by any other name. In simple terms this means that they can act to stimulate or inhibit the growth of certain types of cells, such as those found in the human breast. &lt;br /&gt;How do we know whether a compound will have a tendency to stimulate or inhibit cell growth? Well both natural hormones and hormonally active agents can work quite differently in people according primarily to dose and life stage. A study by Japanese researchers concluded that intake of soy by healthy adults for a long duration caused enlargement of the thyroid and suppressed thyroid function. EWE!  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I decided that the drugs they tried to force on me were not acceptable and I have been losing weight and also I practice some relaxation techniques that seem to help, I basically just stop doing anything and do some very deep breathing.  I act like one of those dolls made with rubber bands you pull on the cord and they completely tighten up [inhale soaking up as much air as I can] and on the exhale completely allow head, neck, arms, shoulders, waist to slowly slump and rest thre for a few seconds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now I eat foods nicely seasoned with sea salt and I enjoy foods again, And my blood pressure is normal, cooincidence?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1)&lt;blockquote&gt;Blood pressure is partially a function of the heart strength, but high blood pressure is most generally the result of narrow, inelastic arteries. Narrow arteries come from bad fats in the diet as the arteries accumulate plaque, which is composed of entirely of oxidized fats and oxidized cholesterol--which come from the bad fats in your diet. When coupled with good fats like olive oil, sesame oil, coconut oil, raw butter, (plus eggs and fish, under the right conditions) then high high blood pressure never really becomes an issue.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Of course, any salt that is used should be sea salt. Table salt is bleached to make it white, and "purified" to remove everything but sodium chloride, which eliminates vital minerals like potassium. So using sea salt does make a difference.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The trick is to use unrefined sea salt. I checked out the fiber choices. The first one looked good so I checked out the list of ingredients. Get this: a serving is one rounded tablespoon and in this serving are 8 grams of Sugar, SUGAR????? How could they get that many grams of sugar in one Tablespoon?  Apparently the whole container is just very expensive sugar.  Now the fiber they put in it is tasteless so why the sugar? Many people know that they need more fiber in their diets but to get 25-30 grams one would be eating broccoli and spinach nearly constantly 18 hours a day. So we go to the drugstore to buy a diet aid, because fiber helps you lose weight and get healthier, right? yeah, so they pile on the sugars to thwart us. Not only that but some of the offerings have Aspartame in them, Now this excito-toxin is really hard on the colon even causing ulcers in it, so forget any colon benefits with this product. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But it's ok folks if you get a little constipated from the Aspartame and you develop a hemorrhoid, they also have 'TUCKS' on sale there to relieve it, and lots of really rugged colon dynamite to flush out the bowel so that you aren't all stopped up, oh and by the way, it makes the bowel just a little weaker each time one takes a laxative. Sigh, now for the rest of the story, Yellow dye number [who cares] was also part of the fiber, now what's the big deal about the color of something you are going to chug anyway? Then there's artificial flavor, who knows what is in that. And who wants a 'Tang' substitute anyway? So we are pretty much stuck if you try to get better well there is &lt;em&gt;everything&lt;/em&gt; trying so hard to keep you sick. Is this a conspiracy by the AMA, to make more $$ off of us?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ok, here's another~Yogurt. Did you know they put High Fructose Corn Syrup in that stuff. People buy it to get healthy and to help them lose weight, and there is a substance in it that MAKES ONE CRAVE CARBS ESPECIALLY SWEET ONES~Can you believe this? Not to mention that they pasteurize it to death so that all the lovely healing beneficial bacteria is killed deader than a rock. So All we get is a big fat Nuttin'! And a bad for you nuttin' to boot. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Filling ourselves up with these non-foods causes a nutritional imbalance . We aren't getting what we need and we are getting something that's bad for us. Think of it this way, A car runs on gasoline, if our tanks were empty we don't put just anything in the tank, like say oh...water, because it won't run on water and water will destroy the engine. According to Dr. Hari Sharma's Freedom from Disease, the uric acid derivative initiates free radical damage to DNA in the beta cells of the pancreas, causing the cells to malfunction and die. When these beta cells fail to operate normally, they no longer produce enough insulin, or in other words, they cause one variety of adult-onset type 2 diabetes. I hurt so bad and felt so awful all the time, my blood sugar levels were way outta control I could barely sleep and I had no energy. I ate like the oinker I resembled. After working hard to lose weight and get fitter I've lowered my blood sugar levels to rock bottom. I'm in control of my eating, exercising, I no longer live to eat but eat to live. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My diet currently is not that exciting but it is mostly adequate, I still get hungry, to keep my weight down and hopefully lose more? But the truly exciting thing is I'm feeling so much better, I'm busily making clothes and taking in or giving away all the horribly huge things I have in my closet, See as I was so fat I quit caring what I looked like and I chose my clothing, not for style, but simply if they were big enough to hide at least some of the rolls. I can tie my shoes pretty easily now, and my feet aren't nearly as swollen, I have energy and more importantly I have my ambition back, To explain... I not only have the ability to get things done, but have the 'want to' also.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A great side effect of getting well and having a future again is that I'm just happy,&lt;br /&gt;for me this is really something because a big part of my problem is that I've always struggled with deep depression. I was bi-polar also so I know the difference between the euphoria of the high part of the disease and just happy. In fact I ate drank and made merry like there was no tomorrow, and guess what, there wasn't. This all caught up to me when I hit about 40 and I was on the downward slide from there. I began with getting Hemorrhoids so bad they bled and HURT; still I stayed on my meat diet, I ate meat and some starchy stuff. Lots of sweets, in fact just last year I bought a huge box of chocolates from Norway to eat all by myself! I didn't like fruits or most vegetables so I ignored them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hi, my name is Barbara Jean Bailey and I'm a diabetic. It's not like I didn't know much about Nutrition, in fact it was something I'd studied for many many years, I'd buy the Rodale books and read them cover to cover. I was always the one at parties with the &lt;em&gt;'arcane'&lt;/em&gt; knowledge for bee stings relief from your kitchen cupboard. In fact I had an arsenal of information at my fingertips on exactly which minerals or vitamins to take for which maladies. I guess I figured the knowledge was enough, and because I was so-armed I'd stay healthy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But I didn't, as I said I started the down that slippery slope to death when I was 40. I suddenly acquired a bad case of bronchitis and often I would spend weeks unable to get much sleep, but hey by this time I found sleep was elusive anyway, I was losing brain power, I felt like Charly in &lt;em&gt;Flowers for Algernon.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I knew I was getting dumber but I am getting older and so what...By this time I was 55 and dying for sure. I thought briefly about getting well using my 'knowledge' of natural healing, but; my oh my, that would take so long. I went to see a doctor, finally, he informed me that I would have to take insulin and eat right for the rest of my life. Oh NO! no more chocolate binges? No more nachos? No more Pizzas eaten until the pieces were cold? No more day after day just sitting watching TV and vegging out? I had to exercise? I had to give myself shots? I had to quit eating all my favorites until my stomach nearly burst? There's got to be a better way. I started reading on the net, I bought Robert O. Young's book &lt;em&gt;"The pH Miracle for Weight Loss", &lt;/em&gt;and Richard K. Bernstein's book,&lt;em&gt; "The Diabetes Diet".&lt;/em&gt; I also got Julian M. Whittaker's book &lt;em&gt;"Reversing Diabetes"&lt;/em&gt;. All are available on Amazon.com.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My doctor and later the education nurse taught me how to do my blood sugar readings to give appropriate amounts of insulin at the right times. I'd already seen that the diabetic pills were dangerous and I'd have to do the insulin shots but I certainly did not want to accept the death sentence of &lt;em&gt;"Diabetes".&lt;/em&gt; I began by reading Bernstein's book and Whittaker's book and started dieting and exercising.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I bought supplements I found recommended on the 'net, took minerals and omega-3's and omega-6's, Diabetic formulas [see these on the column on the right.] And slowly lost weight and brought my diabetes under control, but still I HAD diabetes, and I WANT IT GONE!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In reading Robert O. Young's literature I found that a sick body is an acidic body, an acidic body is a sick body so how can I make it alkaline instead. I ate mountains of broccoli, but I just love meat [an acid food] so what am I going to do? I got an email from Burt Goulding at Positive Power Nutrition, he recommended a product called &lt;a href='http://productshealth.net/cellpower-healing.html' target="new"&gt;cellpower[tm]&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As soon as I started to take cellpower I noticed a big difference, I had lots of energy, I was able to sleep, my ability to think clearly was coming back, I'd already lost some weight but it still kept coming off. I know with God's help I will be. I eat a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables, but I avoid all processed foods, High Fructose corn Syrup, trans fats, MSG, Genetically modified foods, sugary things and the microwave. My PH is nearly normal and the occasional slip of having popcorn and cocoa in the evenings doesn't affect my health.
